Preview: Chali 2na and the Funkhunters @ The Haunt, 19/01/2016

With 90s throwback very much in swing, we rejoiced at the news that the lead of legendary alternative hip-hop group Jurassic 5, Chali 2na, was coming to town.

Chali 2na has done it all, from his days growing up on the hardscrabble streets of Chicago’s south side, to his subsequent explosion onto Los Angeles’ burgeoning hip-hop scene. Rising to prominence as the physical and vocal totem of seminal hip-hop group Jurassic 5, Chali epitomises the portrait of a 21st century artist, firmly establishing himself as one of the most distinctive, charismatic personalities not just in hip-hop, but music in general.

Joined by The Funk Hunters, whose live collaborations have dominated dancefloors the world over with their unique combination of hip-hop and funk, next Tuesday night’s show promises brilliant technical displays and soulful electronic dance encrusted with hardened wordsmith Chali 2na’s beloved baritone.

Chali plays The Haunt next Tuesday (19th January). Find tickets here.
