PREVIEW: Hammer and Tongue Grand Slam Final @ Komedia, 1/12/2016

The Verse’s Tamara Stidwell previews the upcoming Brighton Hammer and Tongue: Grand Slam Final at the Komedia.

As the year of 2016 reaches its climax, Brighton Hammer and Tongue are going out with a slam to rap it up! Down at the Komedia on the 1st of December, every slam winner from 2016 will battle it out over three rounds to earn the title of Brighton Hammer and Tongue Grand Champion. The champion will then represent Brighton at the Hammer and Tongue National Final in January at the Royal Albert Hall.

Brighton Hammer & Tongue never fail to pull out all the stops, presenting a year round programme of poetry slams with touring guest artists at Komedia on Gardener Street. Their events take place on the first Thursday of every month and this annual final will toast off the year crowning one big bad lexical genius. Renowned for it’s edgy accolade of punchy, profound and provocative poets, the Grand Slam Final 2016 at the Komedia is going to be the crème de la crème on every literary-junkie’s calendar.

Special guest National Champion Solomon O.B. will also be there to deliver hip-hop hurling, boundary smashing lyrics and show us how to do it! Featured on BBC 1Extra, BBC Radio 5 as well as the Guardian Online, Solomon O.B. has been dubbed one to watch.

Tickets are available on the door from 7:30 pm at £7.
