As students, we can all probably attest to the fact that after a hard night of partying, when we say we want to call it a night and go home, we really want to go home.
Last orders went an hour ago, and you’ve been thrown out in the cold as the doors slam behind you, but – alas – you’re told the wait for a taxi is more than half an hour. You’re tired, your feet hurt and all you want is your bed (maybe after one too many jagerbombs); the idea of having to wait for a ride is beyond miserable.
Thank god for Uber.
Initially created as ‘UberCab’, Uber is a mobile app that enables people to book a taxi directly through their smartphone, connecting riders directly to the nearest available driver through GPS technology. Functioning under a cash-less system, whereby the taxi fare is automatically paid through the customer’s credit or debit card at the end of the journey, it’s a convenient method for students who may not always carry cash.
Though the company has been running successfully in London since 2012, us small folk in Brighton have been patiently awaiting its arrival, our prayers finally being answered back in November.
To celebrate its arrival, we’ve partnered up with Uber to offer all students their first Uber ride FREE, up to the price of £15. Simply enter the code UBER4VERSE17 at uber.com/app.
Uber is available on Android and iOS. For more info, head to www.uber.com.
