PREVIEW: Bent Double @ Komedia, 05/03/2017

The Verse’s Robert Bone previews Bent Double, due to take over Komedia the first Sunday of every month, beginning 5th March 2017

Queer Brighton Checklist… Fem clubs and bear bars? Check! Spaces to appreciate and learn about our past? Check! But don’t forget about the laughs! It’s time to get your gays together once more, as Bent Double returns to Komedia in Brighton for another night of fun and frolics.

Winner of the Chortle award for Best Comedy Club Night in the UK for 2015, Bent Double showcases some of the best local and global comedians. It doesn’t hold back in revealing the joys and wonders of the world that puts Brighton as the camp comedy capital. Hosted by Zoe Lyons (Mock the Week / Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow) for over 10 years, the line-up is never the same. The upcoming gig is headlined by Lucy Porter. On Sunday 5th March expect her ‘impeccably punch lined anecdotes’ (Telegraph) and unique bouncy, chatty style as she comes back from wowing audiences in over 10 solo shows. Along with Cally Beaton (Chortle’s 2017 Comedians To watch) many more.

As Zoe boasts, “bang in the middle of Beautiful Brighton”, Komedia is the perfect venue for an evening of goofy laughs, with excellent staff and an uplifting ethos. Brand new for the event, you can upgrade to a Side Saver ticket which includes three side dishes, creating a whole evening of fun.

The party’s already been going on for 10 years, but it’ll never start until you arrive! It’s a stand-up comedy night, but not like you’ve seen before. Get your gay on!

Bent Double is held on the first Sunday of every month at Komedia Brighton, starting at 7:30pm (doors 6.30pm). With student/under 26 tickets priced at only £5, there’s no excuse not to head down to the next one – on Sunday 5th March.
