‘Will the real Funk & Soul weekender please stand up’

No interest in the pop charts? Are Little Mix and Ed Sheeran flooding your mind too? Why not kick off the summer early, and get lost in the groove-filled wonderland that is The Funk & Soul Weekender.

With the recent resurrection of the funk and soul genres, it is fair to say Soundcrash has introduced an unquestionably unique, exciting, funk filled festival to the UK festival scene. The UK has been craving an unconventional festival that ignores the temptations of popular culture. This experience will be guaranteed not only by the opulent mix of artists performing. But by incredible extras included.

What’s it all about?

Well, its Funk and Soul infused, blending the old skool with the new skool. Mixing live artists with the hottest Dj’s. Including: Big Brass Sounds, Hip hop beats, Future Soul, Tropical; Afro-Beat, World, Disco, House, and everything in between. This is set to be the perfect weekend. All over three days. And all contained in a quaint and nostalgic holiday park in Camber Sands.

Who’s Playing?

The combination of a huge supply of top level entertainment. Combining legends such as George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Soul II Soul and Sugarhill Gang with incredible emerging talents such as Harleighblu and Jordan Rakei. The line up includes: George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic Soul II Soul LIVE / Gilles Peterson/ Hot 8 Brass Band / Mr Scruff / Greg Wilson / Submotion Orchestra / The Sugarhill Gang / The Mouse Outfit Norman Jay / Omar / Jordan Rakei / Crazy P Soundsystem / DJ Format & Abdominal / Flamingods / Retrospective for Love / Resonators / Nubiyan Twist / Xoa / Mr Thing / Werkha / Harleighblu / United Vibrations / Lakuta / Cheeba / J-Felix / Tenderlonious / Dom Servini / Tenderlonious / Jack Tyson Charles / Ash Walker / Scrimshire / Dennis Ayler / Boba FattTom Central / Russ Ryan / Dat Brass / Hutch / Big Martyn / Manu & Ando / DJ Tappa / Some Juan.

What else is there to offer?

Let’s step away from the music (if we can) for a moment. With activities such as Live Band Karaoke, Echoes Tropical Pool parties and Disco Yoga, this festival will be hard to resist. And of course Craig Charles will be bringing his infamous funky vibes. There will even be Northern Soul Dance classes up for grabs!

Other activities include: Nightspot Cinema / Groovy Hula classes & shows Funkadelic Block parties. Djs, Quizzes, Crazy Golf tournaments, Secret Activities and loads more!

This isn’t all (what! I hear you say.) The festival is also working alongside Mind, Lovespecs & Support Act Charity’s in a bid to push feel good values as far as possible. To create more awareness and opportunities for the projects which need it most.

Where is it happening?

Pontins Holiday Park, Camber Sands. As if the music and the pool parties and the awesomeness wasn’t enough, the festival is located near sandy beaches and some of the most breath-taking scenery. The closest rail station is Rye.

Entry for the festival and chalet accommodation with a group of friends is all included in the price of your festival ticket. This makes it a strong candidate for being the best value for musical money around.
