PREVIEW: MØ and Nimmo, Concorde 2, 11/10/2016

The Verse’s Lottie Wilson previews Danish singer MØ and five-piece indie outfit Nimmo ahead of their show at Concorde 2 on October 11th.

Following a relentless festival schedule, MØ has begun her major worldwide tour. The Danish singer and songwriter is heading to our very own Concorde 2 on the October 11th to perform her dynamic set, supported by the voltaic five-piece Nimmo (formerly known as Nimmo and the Gauntletts).

Within the first few seconds of hearing UnYoung I knew that I would like Nimmo. As a big fan of indie music the hypnotic beat entranced me straight away. Learning of their story my interest only grew – the two vocalists Sarah Nimmo and Reya Gauntlett have been friends for over a decade, first making music together at school. Working through their repertoire I realised that although an easy listen, Nimmo are completely relatable – the lyrics of Others in particular being familiar to anyone who’s experienced lost love. The captivating sound of this band makes you feel instantly acquainted, yet demands repeated listens.

Some would say that MØ is unpredictable, with both her looks and sound shifting from each new single however her need to be heard is persistent. The singer has been releasing music since 2009 with her first solo single being Glass – a seductive track considering youth and lust, a catchy song that was unapologetic with its implication. Her collaborations with the likes of Iggy Azalea and DJ Lazer in forthcoming years earned her wide recognition yet it was her debut album No Mythologies To Follow that marked her as an artist to watch. MØ’s music has charted across the globe and over summer she entered the UK Top 40 with her infectious track Final Song. The singer has recently released a preview for her latest offering Drum, an unreleased track, so hopefully she’ll reveal more at the gig!

MØ and Nimmo play Concorde 2 on October 11th. Tickets for the show are sold out, however Nimmo return for a headline show at Green Door Store on November 25th.
