The Verse’s Beth Armstrong previews the Isle Of Wight Festival, taking place in Newport on 21st June to 24th June 2018
June 2018 will mark 50 years of the amazing Isle of Wight Festival! This year’s line-up is incredible and includes artists, The Script, Liam Gallagher, James Bay, The Killers and Rita Ora.
Thursday 21st June will kick off with English rock band, The Wombats, Hot Dub Time Machines, and T.Rextasy. While there aren’t many acts on the first day of the festival, this gives you the perfect opportunity to explore the festival site and get your bearings.
Friday 22nd June will see performances from Kasabian, Irish rock band The Script; drum n bass duo Chase & Status, and Rita Ora, best known for her track, ‘Anywhere’. With more acts on Friday you’ll never run out of things to do and see. There will also be luxury toilets available all weekend for the small fee of £32.50.
Saturday 23rd June has an exciting range of artists performing! The one and only James Bay (bae) will be onstage singing his hits, ‘Hold Back The River’ and ‘Let It Go’, along with sets from Jessie J, Kodaline, Blossoms and Liam Gallagher. Once again, people’s hopes and dreams of Oasis getting back together will be lost. Last years X Factor winners, Rak Su, will be bringing their popular tracks to the stage. While the winner of last year’s Britain’s Got Talent, Tokio Myers will also be performing his unique music.
Sunday 24th June will be the last day of the Isle of Wight festival, and will be taken over by The Killers with their popular hit, ‘Mr Brightside’. Joining them are Norwegian singer Sigrid, Van Morrison, and Camila Cabello best known for her latest hit, ‘Havana’. The weekend festival tickets include standard camping, you can stay in your own tent or reserve a pitch with camping plus. Or if you just want to relax for an extra cost go with the glamping option!
Tickets are as follows: Weekend: £209 Islander: £145 Friday: £65 Sat/Sun: £75 Student: £175 Teen: £150 Child: FREE. This year is set to be a big one with their 50th anniversary. Plus, the Isle Of Wight Festival is the only major music festival on the Isle Of Wight after Bestival moved to their new location last year.
