The Verse’s Chloe Lawrence previews Farr Festival, taking place at Bygrave Woods, Hertfordshire on the 4th-7th July 2018.
Farr Festival promises a weekend of fantasy, an eccentric atmosphere and unforgettable DJ sets. Transporting festival-goers to a whole new realm of experience. The four-day festival is like no other, set in the picturesque Bygrave Woods, just north of London. Farr is a unique party experience for hard-core techno house fans promising exquisite sounds over the weekend. As a boutique festival, Farr is a modest size with a modest crowd. The campsite is an accessible ten-minute walk from the main arena, making it all the easier to nip back to the campsite for another swig of warm gin and tonic stashed in the bottom of your oversized rucksack. Walking around the festival you will feel as though you’ve fallen face-first through your wardrobe and out the other side into the mystical land of Narnia. You’re not to miss this incredible opportunity to embrace the outlandish festival fashion that Farr has to offer, as either a participant or a spectator.
With an enviable line-up, Farr hosts a range of incredible DJs. One of the most notable acts appearing on the line up is Hunee, best known for his eclectic mix of Chicago and Detroit house, and disco. Maribou State, a garage duo who evoke warm, gentle and notably mellow melodies will also be performing. Other artists we recommend watching over the weekend include Shy FX, Shadow City Sound System and Roman Flügel. All three artists are great contenders who deliver unique sounds and are guaranteed to execute exquisite sets.
Farr’s main stage has matured from a humble gathering in a broken-down caravan in the woods during 2009, to a sophisticated yet creative purpose-built ‘factory’ with state of the art sound systems and fantastic lighting to accommodate 2500 avid ravers. Each stage provides an exclusive experience, the Hidden Palace puts on a lively outdoor show under the stars complete with an Illuminati evoking eye, whereas Campfire Headphase lures partygoers with its inviting orange glow into an oversized canopy complete with rustic décor.
Be sure not to miss out on the additional activities the festival offers, such as refreshing morning yoga in the Shala or a chance to chill out in the hot tubs. Having been shortlisted for Britain’s best boutique dance festival as hosted by DJ Magazine in 2017, we can confirm Farr is one to watch and certainly not one to miss. The late evening summer sunset over Hertfordshire’s rolling hills kicks off Farr Festival’s eclectic nightlife bringing the sleeping forest to life.
