INTERVIEW PREVIEW: ABOMM Promotions founder, Alexander Berdugo

Autumn Micketti gives us an insight to the founder of ABOMM promotions ahead of their interview.

A graduate of the University of Brighton, Alex Berdugo has been involved in the local music scene since he picked up a guitar at the age of 14. Noticing a lack of gig opportunities in his hometown, Berdugo began putting together gigs with friends and local pubs that were eager to help. With this experience in his back pocket, Brighton gave him even more opportunities to play music and organize local music nights at fantastic venues throughout the city, i.e. The Hope and Ruin and The Prince Albert. It was from this that Alexander Berdugo Original Music Management (ABOMM) was born. ABOMM Promotions “aims to provide gigs and other exciting musical opportunities to up and coming Brighton artists” (ABOMM Promotions, 2019), and they have been doing just that!

Earlier this year ABOMM played host to the amazingly talented Sonny, an up-and-coming artist from Newcastle, who may be the newest challenge to Ed Sheeran. The lineup also included local favourites, Destructible Environment, a duo from the Brighton Music Society who have made appearances at ABOMM shows several times since. Earlier this month, ABOMM hosted another event that showcased music from the Pickpockets, a hard rock group, with support from Loud Talk, Destructible Environment, Hyla Brook, and Jenny and The Husbands. Berdugo’s musical background and passion for music, in general, allows him to open the doors to everyone by finding good music in the local scene and sharing it with students, locals, and tourists alike.

The Verse will be chatting with Berdugo about what inspired him to create ABOMM, his current projects and what his aspirations are for the future, so stay tuned!
