STUDENT VOICES: The SU Elections Are Coming!

The nominations for the Students’ Union Leadership Election open on Monday 2nd February.

From this date until the 19th, students can nominate themselves for both full-time paid roles (of which there are 5 in total) and various part-time voluntary ones. In the full-time positions you will receive a salary of £19,000, get a comprehensive development programme worth a further £2.5K a year and also have a positive relationship with the university’s key decision makers, not to mention lots of support from experienced staff. To apply for a full-time role, you need to be a student at the University of Brighton who is either graduating this year or willing to take a year out to fulfil the role.

The part-time positions obviously require less commitment, and there are no set numbers of hours you have to put in weekly – the more you put in, the more you get out. A lot of the roles require you defining yourself as part of a group of students that you wish to represent and you must also expect to still be a University of Brighton student next academic year.

All of the available positions are a great way to enhance your CV as well as becoming part of a positive change within the university.

For more information on the role and how to apply, visit the Brighton SU website.

As for those of you who don’t want to apply for a role, we’ll still need your votes, so when the voting opens on Friday 13th March, make sure you’ve done your research on who you’d like representing you.

Keep an eye on The Verse for candidate manifestos and interviews.
