PREVIEW: The Jalapeno Bop @ The Old Market, Brighton, 01/12/2018

The Verse’s Gem Turner previews The Jalapeno Bop at The Old Market on 1st December 2018.

Bringing the heat with their winter edition, Soul Casserole and Jalapeno Records are serving a fire evening featuring the fantastic Brighton based Soul Steppers opening,
Soul music love child Myles Sanko, A/ V artist DJ Cheeba. This will be an evening of the best funk, soul and disco around today.

Sanko will be joined by his band, fresh off of supporting the legendary Gregory Porter’s European tour. Sanko has been dubbed ‘the love child of soul music’. He made his way to fame independently by uploading videos to YouTube. Since then he has released three albums and we are very lucky to have him in Brighton.

The Soul Steppers are a band that every true Brightonian should be supporting. They are a ten-piece that showcases the very best of funk and northern soul; Lizzie Boyd’s stand-alone vocals are enough to make anyone fall in love with all things soul.

Closing the event will be the outstanding Audio Visual artist, DJ Cheeba. Cheeba’s sets are ones that have to be experienced rather than just heard. He will be blending the finest hip-hop, soul and funk with his visual art projection.

All of this is being cooked in Brighton’s favourite venue The Old Market. It really is a night not to be missed, and booking is essential.
