PREVIEW: Songs for the end of the world, HALF PRICE STUDENT DEAL! 11/3/17

Don’t miss out, says the Verse’s Lou Clement, a dystopia-apocalyptic inspired night is crash landing in rock n’ roll revolution at The Old Market this March.

Half Price Student offer: £6.25* for the first 50 people – book using the passcode: APOCALYPSE

I’m excited and intrigued by the upcoming gig-theatre event Songs for the End of the World, taking place this Saturday at the Old Market Theatre. The description of the event includes references to novelist Philip K Dick. Recent adaptations and interpretations of his novels from Blade Runner to A Scanner Darkly are dystopic and I’m looking forward to theatre inspired by the sci-fi visionary.

To add to this, composer and theatre practitioner Dom Coyote, brings influences of Bowie and 1950’s Rock ‘n’ Roll to the score. Songs for the End of the world is set in an apocalyptic world, one which considers pop culture as well as the more sobering events which shape society. Coyote stars in the play as astronaut Jim Walters and the cast play different roles throughout the play.
Ziggy Stardust, rock ‘n’ roll, and dystopia, what’s not to love?

I expect this show will bring an opportunity to reflect on the politics covered in the daily news agenda and the role that we have in determining the fate of the earth. Obviously that’s a lot to cover and I’m interested to find out what strands and focus the performance will have. Lucky for us, the first 50 tickets, purchased by students are half price!
