Girli brings her Sofa Tour to a Brighton living room near you!
As part of “The Girli Sofa Tour”, the singer and songwriter Milly Toomey, known as Girli, is coming to Brighton for a unique appearance, straight in your living rooms.
The young artist started her career in 2014 by performing at open mic nights and going on stage with the band Ask Martin. She was then discovered by BBC Radio, which was the starting point of her solo career. Since then she has released quite a few singles, such as “Hot Mess” (2017) and “Play it Cool” (2018). She has worked with artists such as DJ Kitty, Oscar and Declan McKenna. Girli has also taken part in Louby McLoughlin’s project OKgrl. In 2019, she released her latest album “Odd One Out” with PMR Records.
Her songs expand on matters of feminism and gender, societal pressure, mental health issues and relationships with unpleasant outcomes. These can be relatable for the audience because they describe situations that most of us have been through or are currently fighting against. When listening to her lyrics, one can understand that they are not going through difficulties by themselves. They feel relieved and supported by a music that expresses their deeper thoughts and fears in a vigorous and energetic way. It does not bring tears to one’s eyes. Instead, it motivates them to keep fighting and tackling head on some of the most difficult situation in life.
Her distinctive appearance brought through her bubblegum pink hair and her piercing blue eyes. These prominent features defiantly make her stand out of the crowd. They give away the creative and bold nature that she is. However, her hair is not the only thing that we found interesting!
Her Sofa Tour is quite a game changer when it comes to the typical acts separating the artist and the audience. The image of a singer in a homely environment is appealing and fun. It brings her closer to her fans and their hearts. Her shows will take place in ten different cities around the UK during March, and she is already sold out. However, you will be able to catch her again in Brighton, to experience this once in a lifetime gig at Patterns in May.
One thing is for sure…
We can’t wait!
